This large antique vintage oil portrait painting from the 19th century shows Julius F. Dreysel, a German gentleman. Painted around 1840, he is shown wearing a black jacket and bow tie.

Julius Ferdinand Dreysel was a cotton and embroidery manufacturer from Germany. After his early death in 1867, his wife Friedericke continued the family business, which was uncommon for women at the time. 

This painting was made to be displayed together with the matching portrait of his wife (see other listing), but can also be purchased separately.
