This painting, depicting Wynandus Johannes de Buck is a true eye-catcher. De Buck (born July 28, 1790 - died September 12, 1857) is a distinguished Dutch gentleman. 

The Buck is wearing a white shirt with high stiff collars and silver buttons, paired with a black silk necktie and a black jacket. This reflects the formal menswear typical of the early to mid-19th century in Dutch High Society.
